How To Secure Your Crypto Assets?

Let’s talk about wallets.

Wallets are digital accounts that can store digital collectibles like NFTs. They allow you to send and receive digital money and are typically decentralized, meaning you control the account.

While the concept is simple — a place to store your cryptocurrency and use it — choosing a crypto wallet can be an incredibly intimidating experience. There are about 150 different wallets to choose from. Some handle only a few popular cryptocurrencies; others let you trade and store obscure types of digital tokens.

Ready to get started? Choose a Wallet, the first thing you need to decide is what you plan to do with your cryptocurrency. If the NFT market is what you’re interested in, choose a wallet that can connect to NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea, SuperRare, and Solanart. Some of these marketplaces operate on a particular blockchain, and that might determine your choice of wallet. For instance, OpenSea supports Ethereum, Polygon, and Klatyn blockchains; most transactions use Ethereum and a lot of NFT traders use Metamask to buy, sell, store, and list for purchase NFTs they got through OpenSea

Another important consideration when picking a wallet is the availability of a mobile app. Some wallets are used on desktop computers as a browser extension and are not as mobile-friendly as you might expect, especially if they’re not as established as some of the wallet software mentioned here. If you are most concerned about security, you might want to consider a hardware crypto wallet. These frequently come in the form of a USB stick that you can disconnect from your system (and the internet) for added security.

Once you’ve chosen a crypto wallet, the next step is to install it and set up an account. Some wallets like Metamask are available as apps or browser extensions that can be opened at any time just by typing a command or connecting to a website that supports it (like OpenSea). While setting up the wallet, you must also generate a “seed phrase,” a sequence of words that can be used to recover your wallet in the event that you forget your password. It is essential that you track your seed phrase. You can write it down or print it out and put it somewhere safe, paste it in an encrypted file on a thumb drive and keep it away, email it to yourself — whatever it takes to ensure that you do not lose that seed phrase. Millions of dollars in wallet-bound cryptocurrency have been lost because people forgot their passwords or seed phrases in the crypto world.

After you’ve set up your wallet, you’ll need to add funds to it. If you have any cryptocurrency in a stock trading account or a crypto exchange, you can transfer that money to your wallet. There are wallets that allow you to swap cryptocurrencies directly within the wallet for a fee.

USDC is one of the easiest crypto tokens to use, as it always maintains the same 1:1 ratio with the USD. Approximately $50 billion worth of USDC is currently in circulation. One way to avoid repeatedly drawing money from your bank is to exchange US dollars for USDC, and then use USDC to buy other cryptocurrencies.

Digital wallets are a convenient, efficient, and secure way for you to pay for virtual goods, tickets, gift cards, and more.
